The Acheropiitos Festival
The annual religious festival held at the monastery of Acheropiitos near the magical coast of Karavas and Lapithos, on 15 and 16 August, was this year especially popular. Almost all the inhabitants of the two towns, Karavas and Lapithos, traveled to the monastery of Acheropiitos, apart from the families on holiday from Nicosia and others who went there from neighbouring villages. The monastery was presented to the pilgrims this year respectable, decorated with flags and clean, thanks to its administrators and active gymnast Mr. Ch. Nicolaides. The views from the monastery's rooms intrigued the pilgrims, as they are of the deep blue and open sea, and one can make out the Asia Minor coasts and the tips of Tavros, and on the other side the northern slopes of the Kyrenia mountain, covered in trees, at the foot of which are the picturesque houses of Karavas and Lapithos.

Karavas is proud of its honoured children
Karavas of the good men, among its other decorations, added yet another, the immortal, amaranthine laurel wreath of glory, which its immortal children brought back from the battlefields of honour in Heperus, the islands, Macedonia and during the two battles of the Titans in 1912 and 1913. There was almost no battlefield where the laurel of victory grew without someone from Karavas taking part. The laurel wreaths, brought to the beautiful town by the manful children, is made of the leaves of this laurel wreath, with the biggest being the leaf they harvested at the Tsoumayia battle. Because the tree from which it was cut was watered with the heroic blood of one of those children, Christoforos Arseniou. Karavas, to honour the heroic child, decided to erect a memorial column at the gate of the school from which he graduated, so that every day, every hour, every minute the young Greeks, tomorrow's soldiers of the homeland, may follow the honoured hero when their country calls them.
Here are the names of all the Karavas volunteers, who so impulsively ran and took part in the two sacred struggles: Ioannis Pigasiou, Mitsos Charilaou, Christoforos Arseniou (+), Stylianos D. Moisis, Moisis D. Moisis, Lambros Georgiou, Nicolaos Georgiou, Costis. L. Rousou, Eftychios L. DECORATION OF CYPRIOT COMBATANT
Another brave and glorified child of Cyprus was honoured by the Greek government. On July 9, after an invitation, Mr. Christodoulos Yiallouris from Karavas and now at Ayios Ambrosios, a brave combatant at Pizani and the whole capturing of Heperus, went to the Greek Consulate. There, honourable Deputy Consular Mr. Artemis, touched with emotion, presented Mr. Yiallouris with the commemorative medal of war, which the respected Greek government sent. The Consular warmly congratulated this brave soldier and advised that he keep it as a priceless relic for his children. We also heartedly congratulate Mr. Yiallouris for receiving this honour from the Greek government.

Decoration of Karavas inhabitant
With great joy and pride the Karavas community learned that another heroic child, Styllis Chr. Parveris, honoured this beautiful town, and indeed before foreigners, the English. Styllis, a soldier for the transport of the English army in Macedonia, in carrying out his duties after the last attack in Macedonia, showed such collectedness and such defiance to the danger during that terrible rain of bullets and bombshells, that he managed to save most of the wounded English officers from the destruction, who would have perished in that storm of combat due to the destruction of most of their transport vehicles and the death of their drivers. As a reward for his bravery, he was decorated with the medal of bravery among military honours, while the English soldiers applauded him and his town. Furthermore, he was presented by the commander a certificate expressing admiration for the unequalled bravery and boldness of this soldier.
